The essence of our approach is that the different aspects of KM need to be looked at and worked on integrally. Optimising one dimension will not be fully successful if the other dimensions are not considered at the same time.

We initiated and designed the Knowledge Ecosystem approach which has its origins in scientific research. This integral approach is aimed at developing and fostering optimal flows in ‘knowledge ecosystems’.

In many of our projects we apply this approach, often combining a set of KM services.

We advice and support organizations in developing knowledge management, organizational and learning strategies. We have found that people often look for knowledge management and ict solutions without considering their overall vision, mission and goals.

The development of a sound strategy ensures strong linkages between an organization's goals and the implementation of projects and solutions. We encourage a combination of top-down and bottom-up approaches, which connects the day-to-day reality of the work floor to strategies and overarching goals. We support strategy and plan in agri & environment, maritime industry, and international development.

SPC Land Resources Division

Support for the Land Resources Division (LRD) of the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) in development of their knowledge management strategy, including KM scans and workshops.

International shipbuilder

Strategic advice and planning in multiple units and subcompanies of a large international shipbuilding company. This also included 15 KM scans and accompanying workshops.

Plan International

Review of the Plan International knowledge management strategy (2013-2015), and recommendations for the next KM strategy. In an earlier phase for Plan we developed an organisational KM tool for retention of knowledge.

PRIICA

Facilitation of the development of KM strategies and interventions to enhance knowledge sharing within PRIICA (Regional Program for Investigation and Innovation in Agricultural Value Chains - Central America).

SABRN

We supported the SABRN (Southern African Bean Research Network) network of PABRA (Pan African Beans Research Alliance) in their KM strategy development, which also included a KM scan and workshop on site.

Strategy guideline

For the maritime industry project Integraal Samenwerken, we created a guideline on how to develop a knowledge management strategy and align this with your business strategy. Available upon request.

The knowledge management (KM) scanning process is developed to provide insight in, and awareness on your knowledge intensive organisation. It assesses the state of knowledge management activities and challenges and results in a well balanced overview of the current situation. This is a sound basis for identifying obstacles, discovering strategic opportunities and making the right choices regarding knowledge management for the following year or years.

We conducted 15 KM scans within multiple engineering units and subcompanies of a large international shipbuilding company. This included knowledge management workshops and discussions, and follow-up with strategy development.

Maritime companies

In support of the Dutch maritime program 'Integraal Samenwerken' we conducted KM scans (and more) at 20+ different Dutch and international maritime companies, ranging from shipyards to system integrators, and from yacht builders to offshore companies.

CANROP

KM scans for agricultural producers' networks across 12 Caribbean countries, including cross-country and regional analyses. Followed by development and execution of knowledge management strategies and action plans for CANROP (Caribbean Network of Rural Women Producers).

Workshop facilitation

Almost all of our KM projects include workshops on knowledge management. These range from one up to five day workshops with KM scan analysis, strategy development, awareness raising, deeper KM understanding. Our approach to facilitation is personal and participatory.

Advice for a large international pig breeding company, in setting up their internal knowledge management, including organizational structure and responsibilities.

KM handbooks & guidelines

Over the years, we have written, designed, developed and published a range of knowledge management handbooks, guidelines and a book on KM.
